Bellmere – Custom Gable Carport Shade Sail

Designed to Complement the Home's Architecture

The homeowners on Westminster Road, Bellmere wanted a shade solution that would protect two vehicles while enhancing the appearance of their home rather than hiding it behind a bulky structure.
Instead of installing a traditional flat shade sail or a solid roof carport, we designed a custom gable carport shade sail that follows the existing roofline, creating a striking architectural feature that looks like it was always part of the home.
The elevated centre section mirrors the home's gable, providing excellent vehicle coverage while maintaining an open, spacious feel across the front of the property.
By carefully positioning the steel posts, selecting the correct attachment heights and designing the sail to complement the existing roofline, we created a practical yet elegant shade solution that enhances both the functionality and street appeal of the home.
The finished installation provides excellent UV protection for two vehicles while adding a modern architectural feature that blends seamlessly with the property's existing design.

Designed for Queensland Conditions

Built for Queensland Conditions

  • Queensland experiences some of Australia's harshest weather, with intense UV exposure, heavy rainfall, summer storms and high temperatures.

  • Every Sunshine Shade Sail is designed to withstand these conditions using premium Australian materials and proven installation methods.

  • Our installations feature:

  • * Rainbow Shades commercial-grade Australian shade fabric
  • * Hot-dip galvanised structural steel
  • * Marine-grade stainless steel hardware
  • * High-tension engineering for long-term performance
  • * Professional installation by experienced shade sail specialists

  • Correct tensioning is one of the most important aspects of any shade sail installation. A properly tensioned sail helps prevent sagging, improves water runoff and reduces movement during strong winds, ensuring your investment continues to perform and look its best for many years.

Engineering the Right Solution

Why Choose a Gable Shade Sail?
A gable shade sail is an excellent option for homes with a pitched roof because it creates a natural continuation of the existing architecture.
Unlike a conventional flat shade sail, the raised centre section increases clearance, improves rainwater runoff and creates a more striking three-dimensional appearance.
For this Bellmere project, the gable design allowed us to maximise vehicle coverage while maintaining an open and welcoming entrance to the home.
The result is a shade sail that not only performs exceptionally well but also becomes a feature of the property's overall design.

FAQ

Why choose a custom shade sail instead of a carport?
A custom architectural shade sail provides excellent protection from the sun while creating a modern, open appearance. It is often more cost-effective than constructing a traditional carport and can be tailored to complement the style of your home. Why choose Sunshine Shade Sails?
Every shade sail is individually designed to suit your property, professionally installed using premium Australian materials and backed by years of practical experience. We focus on creating shade sails that not only provide protection but also enhance the appearance and value of your home. What is a gable shade sail?
A gable shade sail features a raised centre section that follows the shape of a pitched roof. This creates a more architectural appearance, improves water runoff and provides additional clearance beneath the sail while maximising shade coverage.
